How it all began
Juanè grew up in Porterville in the Boland. She completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Stellenbosch University, where after she completed her community service year in Welkom.
On 23 November 2004, Juanè started Juanè Raats Occupational Therapy (JROT) Practice in Bloemfontein Mediclinic. For several years Juanè worked alone as the only Therapist in the Practice. The Practice initially started out with treatment in the Psychiatric Field and Paediatric Field, but Juanè did her post graduate Diploma in Hand Therapy and the Practice became renowned mainly for the treatment of hand injuries. The Practice then developed into the Physical Rehab, Medico-legal and Disability Evaluations, ICU Treatment and Neuro fields. Today, several Therapists are employed under the umbrella Practice. As need arises, the areas of the Practice develops accordingly; where today the Practice consists of multi-faceted treatment fields in which all Therapists are trained in. JROT works in almost all fields of Occupational Therapy because we believe that a person is not only one dimensional, but multi-dimensional and that we strive to cater for all the needs of the Patient as best we can.
Kimberley was established on 16 February 2015 and is in full operation.
In February 2020 JROT established “Hands-on Centre” which is a Centrum consisting of multiple Centre’s that aims in treating Patients according to their needs, thus focusing on quality and patient-directed treatment.
Bloemfontein was sold on 1 March 2024 to Sandra du Preez and Truzaan Blome, now trading as Hands-on Centre and Partners Inc. Prior to the change of ownership, Sandra and Truzaan were employed for several years by Juane Raats.
Juane Raats Hands-on Centre Inc. and Hands-on Centre and Partners Inc., both provide quality and professional treatment to all.
