Hands-on Kids Centre

Kids are the future of tomorrow. That is why it is so important to nurture their bodies and minds and assist in their development. We perform baby and toddler developmental evaluations that focusses on the different developmental stages.  The goal is to identify problematic areas early before it is too late. We also have Home Programs with plenty activities to help you facilitate normal development at home. Baby massaging is also one of our areas of focus. Baby massaging is a way for mother and baby to bond and that is  the reason why we are so passionate about educating new mothers on this amazing technique.

 We also perform School readiness evaluations for children currently in Grade R to assess whether they will be ready for Grade 1. These evaluations include all the aspects important for a child to thrive in Primary School, these include fine motor development, gross motor development, visual perception, social play, and emotional readiness. We also include an ADHD screening and sensory profile screening as well. Upon completion of these evaluations a Report will be written, and feedback will be provided to parents with guidance and options regarding to problematic areas found during the evaluation. Alternatively, we also perform in-depth visual perceptual and gross motor evaluations, which covers in-depth assessment of the different aspects of visual perception, fine motor development, and gross motor development. These evaluations can be performed on any child from the age of 4 years to 10 years. We have Home Programs for visual perceptual, sensory, and motor development guidance.

 We also provide therapy services for all children with different needs and requests. We offer developmental delay programs to address delays in different areas of development through play activities for the child to learn. We are equipped to see children with different developmental disorders and the therapy is child specific, there for each child is seen as a unique human being and treated as such. We also have Bobath trained Therapists to assist with therapy for any neurological disorders . Home Programs for all stages of treatment are also provided.

Considering the Covid pandemic, many patients who suffered from Covid struggles with post Covid complications of which can include memory loss, attention, mental and physical endurance problems, emotional exhaustions, tiredness, loss of strength, sensation problems, reduced problem solving and planning abilities, etc. This can negatively influence a child’s functioning in class and at home. At the Hands-on Kids Centre, we also aid patients who suffer from post Covid related functional problems.

 Here we  also work with adolescent difficulties. We do school and functional capacity assessments, teaching study methods and techniques, life skill training and development, career exploration and planning, and basic work skill development.
